Contrary to its name, the American Eskimo Dog or Eskie originates from Germany. The American Eskimo Dog

has a dense, sparkling white coat with a lion-like ruff around the chest and shoulders; a smiling face, with black nose, lips, and eye-rims that convey a keen, intelligent expression; and a plumed tail carried over the back.

They insist on being part of family life and are among the most trainable of breeds, the clever, kid-friendly Eskie practically invented the phrase “eager to please.” In the early 1920s The American Eskimo Dog was a favorite circus attraction where it performed tricks to music, with clowns or ponies, walked on wires, and wove in and out of moving wagon wheels and horses' hooves. These little guys are amazing and a lot of fun.

The word “corgi”, meaning “dwarf dog” appropriately describes this small, spunky breed that originated in Wales as early as the 1100s, Pembroke Welsh corgis are known for their quick intelligence. They are active, animated dogs and do not ever want to be left out of the action. In their own minds, they are big dogs in small bodies. They want to be part of the family. Most corgis are fine with other pets and children if they have been raised with them.
